What is Clever Crow?

Clever Crow is a physics puzzle inspired by the classic fable. A thirsty crow must raise the water in a long-necked jar high enough to drink by tossing objects in to displace it. Aim and fling pebbles through the narrow neck: water rises with real displacement physics.

But choose wisely big stones are efficient yet won't fit a narrow neck, ice floats and melts, cork barely helps, and a sponge soaks up your water. Battle a crosswind on later stages, beat par for 3 stars, and watch the crow fly over and drink when you win. 8 hand-crafted levels, mouse/touch controls, and no two solutions alike.

Sessions in the puzzle genre tend to self-limit naturally: after two or three unsolved levels in sequence, stepping away for an hour frequently produces the insight that twenty more minutes of staring would not. The difficulty curve in puzzle games tends to introduce new constraints one at a time rather than stacking them all at once, which means each level is genuinely a lesson for the next.

Getting started in Clever Crow

Clever Crow is played with the keyboard and mouse together — one hand steering or moving, the other aiming or selecting.

rag from the crow and release to toss objects into the jar Raise the water to the dotted line Mind the wind.

Because the controls lean on the keyboard, a laptop or desktop is the better home for this one. It still opens on a tablet, but expect to fight the touch controls a little in the faster sections. Use the fullscreen button above the frame if you want the game to fill your display.

Strategy notes

Clever Crow rewards systematic trial and error more than raw speed, and a few habits separate a short run from a long one.

  • In block-pushing puzzles, identify the final resting position of each block before pushing anything; once a block is in a corner it is locked permanently and the level is usually unrecoverable.
  • Accept early levels as tutorials even when they feel too simple; the exact mechanic interaction demonstrated in level three is often the hidden ingredient needed for level fourteen.
  • In routing or path puzzles, connect the longest or most constrained path first; short, flexible paths can adapt around it, but a long required path has very few valid routes.
  • Work backwards from the goal state when stuck, asking what would need to be true one step before the end, then two steps back, rather than pushing forward from the start.
  • Color-sorting puzzles are solved from the exit outward: identify which tube each color will ultimately occupy and work out the sequence of moves needed to get there in reverse.

Questions about Clever Crow

Do puzzle games require math or logic training to enjoy?

No formal background is needed. The logic in well-designed puzzle games is self-contained; the rules are given within the game and the solution requires nothing external. Patience and methodical thinking matter far more than prior knowledge.

How difficult does Clever Crow get compared to other puzzle games?

Difficulty in puzzle games is highly subjective, but most titles front-load the learning curve and slow the ramp once the core mechanic is understood. If you are stuck, the problem is almost always a constraint you have not yet identified rather than a lack of ability.

What should I do if I am completely stuck on a level?

Step away for a few minutes rather than staring longer. When you return, look at the board elements you have been ignoring. The stuck feeling in puzzle games almost always signals an unnoticed constraint, not an unsolvable design.

Is an installation needed to play Clever Crow?

Nothing to install. Clever Crow is an HTML5 game that runs inside the browser you already have, so there is no installer, no plugin and no app store detour.

Does Clever Crow save my progress?

Some games keep a local record in the browser and some start fresh each session. Because there are no accounts here, any saved state lives on your own device rather than on a server.

A clean solve on a level that resisted for several attempts is one of the more quietly satisfying moments in gaming; keep returning and accumulate more of them.
